[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] RE: Various place names in Russia

I received an email that has some names that may be connected to my
family.  The email listed various places in Russia and I am wondering
where they are located.

POMERANIA, Russia		Julius Schultz	1875
OLEFSK, Russia 			Emily Nickel    1874 
VELIN, Russia					1899

The first is the birth place of Julius, the second is the birth place of
Emily.  The third is marriage location.  One child was married in
Heimthal Russia in 1924 and another was born in Zhitomir in 1907.which I
know the locations thereof.
Are the locations above any where near the Zhitomir area, and if so do
they have other names?
