RE: Warthegau records
My 83 year old second cousin Gerhard Matt, who was born 1919 in
Janovka, Volhynia, relates the following story:
That in May 1944 his family and he moved from the Eastern Ukraine
to Zirke, Warthegau. In 1945 they were resettled by the Russian Gov.
to Siberia. In 1989 they were permitted to return to Germany.
He states that their Warthegau records were kept in
"Central Berlin Archives" and that facilitated their documentation of
heritage greatly.
I would be interested to hear from our experienced researchers how
much validity can be attached to that statement. And if it is valid, what

is the address and how does one best handle a request for info?
