Or, another way to find someone in the 1901 census of Manitoba:

Look in the 1901 Henderson's directory, which includes an alphabetical list
of farmers with their land descriptions. E. Jager is listed as being on
section 16, township 1, range 5, in the Emerson area.

Then, since the census sub-districts in rural areas were based on the land
descriptions, the rest is easy; you just have to find T1 R5 E.

The directories are on microfiche at virtually every university library in
western Canada.
