A translation service is available through from Germany through e-mail.  It
is free, but may take several weeks.  The service is restricted to
genealogical matters and there is a length limitation.  Send your message to
be translated as follows:

message first line:   #POL>ENG
then the Polish language passage to be translated.

They also do the opposite translation, as well as several other languages.

Greetings,

I am researching the Bohn family which moved from the East Prussia area
(Neidenberg) to the Vohlynia area and back between the turn of the last
century and WWI.

I have contacted the Polish archives who have been good enough to reply to
my e-mail by letter.  Unfortunately for me, it is written in Polish.  The
best I can make out is that they have provided me with the name changes on
the birth records I am seeking.

If I scanned the information, is there anyone in the group who would be kind
enough to read enough of it to give me an idea of what I have :-)   I would
also like to know the best way to address a reply in order to thank the
person who sent me this information.  Some of this information becomes very
confusing ( garbled) when I try to use the on-line Polish translators.

If I am correct in assuming that these are the Polish equivalents for the
villages of the birth places that I am researching, is there a way I can
find the names/records of the parishes for these villages.  Am I correct in
assuming that villages may not necessarily have their own parishes or have
the records stored there.

I would also like to find out if anyone has found a way to trace WWI German
military records?  I understand most of the files were stored in Berlin in
WWII and the WWI records were destroyed during the Allied bombing at that
time.  Ortelsberg was a training center.  Would there be duplicate records
stored there?  My apologies to the group if I have strayed too far from the
Volhynia geographical area :-)   In my case it's all mixed together.
