[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Russian Military Documents

Hello,

Where does one find Russian military documents?

My German great-grandfather left Volhynia in 1888 so that his sons would not
be required to serve in the Russian army as he had to.  (Of course, the
youngest served in the U.S. Navy during WWI--there's always irony
somewhere.)  I would like to know from where I can request copies of Russian
military service records.
