Hello All,
Does anyone know if immigrants entering Canada around 1912 had to complete
any papers regarding their background, family, etc? My grandfather, Edward
Haupt, arrived in Halifax in 1912. He settled in Edmonton Alberta until 1916
when he and his family crossed the boarder into the United States. I have
his index card crossing but that gives only minimal information. His brother
Bernard Haupt entered Canada around 1910 and settled first in Edmonton
Alberta and then moved to British Columbia where he settled permanently. I
am wondering if Bernard Haupt had to complete papers with his history to
become a citizen of British Columbia. Were immigrants who did not become
citizen of Canada have to register with any departments?

I have been searching for information on the HAUPT family for years and have
yet to get past my own grandfather. Very frustrating. Any help will be
appreciated!

Searching for: Haupt & Mincho
