Hi Rose,
Some time ago, I received the message below from the State Archive in Lodz.
I posed a question to the listserve for further information/clarification,
but never received a clear answer. When I asked the Lodz Archive to search
the Alegata or my surnames, they informed me they don't do searches of the
alegata.

Sorry this isn't of much help.

Dick Stein

The State Archive in Lodz would like to inform you that it has in
its collections only the so called "alegata" (attachments to
marriage records) for the evangelical parish of Piotrkow Trybunalski
for the years 1826-1930. The genuine marriage records until 1879 are
not preserved, records from the period after 1879 are kept by State
Archive in Piotrkow Tybunalski

I was looking in the Pradziad database for records from Lodz, Lodz. Amongst
other things, the search results display a record type of "alegata, creed
Ewangelical and records span to 1940. Does anyone know was alegata means?
