Hi

The marriage record is the only place where this name appears. This was
filled out by the town registrar. It's probably spelled phonetically.
My grand parents were not English speakers. He also abbreviated her
fathers name from Ferdinand to Fred. It's quite possible that it was
spelled Wruk. I have one more thing to add that might help. At the
Baptism of their second child (1907) the male sponsor was a Julius
Derkes. I tracked him down in the Ellis Island records. He arrived 1903.
He is a German from Russia and going to Bristol. On the on-line record
spells his town of origin as Zeark. I'm not sure if the first letter is
a Z. in the original manifest. Here it is:

I think he may be a relative since he also followed them from Bristol
to New Haven.

                                 Mike

It is certainly possible that it is a variant spelling but it would
sound a

little different.

In English, the W would be silent but in German it would have a V sound
so

it would be pronounced Vruk.
