[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] English translation of Joachim

There is a web site that gives derivatives and origins of first names
http://www.behindthename.com/. It doesn't appear be of much use in this
case. It does say that the German spelling would be JOCHIM.

Gail, I don't think there is an English translation.  Joachim is my
maiden
surname and understanding the difficulties many English speaking have
with
pronouncing the name, it makes sense that your gg grandfather
Americanized
this name to Joseph and then John.
