You are correct.  The marriage record would show the names of the parents and a lot more.  The bad news is that church records for Zyrardow are not readily available and, it is the church records that constituted civil records prior to WW I which means no civil records either.

You can go to http://baza.archiwa.gov.pl/sezam/pradziad.eng.php to search the Warsaw Archives for Zyrardow.  You will find that you just missed the record as the have the Lutheran books for 1909-1939.  Records before that were probably destroyed in the wars.

I am surprised that the EWZ does not give the names of his parents.  I have seen some cards that show ancestry back for several generations.  Have you seen the complete EWZ file or only the index card?
