The Concordia Library in St. Paul has the "Germans to America" volumes
containing information on immigrant ship passengers to America, along
with many other more rare books, some of which might be in only two
other U.S. libraries.

The Minnesota History Center in St. Paul has a library with microfilms
of all newspapers published in Minnesota, including some foreign
language publications, several in German, that also had distribution
outside the state, but were published in Minnesota. The earliest
newspapers microfilmed are from 1849.

Data on birth and death certificates that have been indexed is
available from the MHS website, where you can also search the library
holdings:

The Minnesota History Center is currently open Tuesday evening until 8
PM. Daily admission is charged ($8 adults, $6 students & seniors)
unless you are a member of Minnesota Historical Society, which will
also give you a quarterly subscription to a fine publication.
