Nelson uses an acceptable, accurate, and recommended method of dating.

Quoting William Strunk Jr.and E.B. White from 'The Elements of Style',
third edition ISBN 0-02-418190-0
Macmillan Publishing Co.  NY

"Note that it is customary to omit the comma in  6 April 1958
The last form is an excellent way to write a date; the figures are  
separated by a word and are, for that reason, quickly grasped."


The 'number', text, number sequence is almost impossible to confuse.
I would avoid abbreviation of the name of the month.

Regardless of the number sequence used, e.g. ddmmyr, mmddyr, or  
yrddmm or yrmmdd, written as numbers only, remains confusing between  
nations. We must think global.
