[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Genealogical Thanksgiving

As we approach the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday (or on any country's thanksgiving celebration) we might often direct our attention to our ancestors and be thankful for their presence and impact on our lives. I would like to compliment such thoughts with reasons to be thankful for events in the here and now.

There is a Biblical story about 10 lepers who were healed by Jesus. Only one turned back to give Him thanks. The ratio is probably about the same for notes of thanks on most genealogy bulletin boards and mailing lists (perhaps a bit better on our mailing list). If you have forgotten or neglected to thank someone who has helped you in your genealogical journey, why not take a few moments during the next few days to do so? Even if someone offered suggestions that were not of direct help to you, they still took time and effort to try. Thank them for that too. (Remember to send your notes privately and not by way of the list, unless it is a generic thank you to the list in general.)

And please allow me this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to this mailing list. I subscribe to or monitor the archives of several other lists and boards. Ours is, by far, one of - the most helpful; the most properly utilized; the most respectful; the least controversial. It is a pleasure to administer this list on behalf of SGGEE.

For your info, we now have over 530 subscribers who read the mail regularly. We've probably only heard from a quarter of you so please feel free to jump in, ask questions, and respond to queries.
