I am looking for information that says there may be German records existing
for a village that once was considered a German one but now is in today's
Poland. My father's parents immigrated to the U.S. in 1890 from what was known
as Reetz, Arnswalde, Brandenburg. I understand that after WWII the village
and other areas in this part of Germany was given to Poland. How would one
find out if any records exist for this former German village? Just thought
some of you Germans on this list might provide a clue for me in order to do
further research. Someone has told me this particular area was known as the
Neumark area and have tried the Internet for something about this but no luck on
how and where to check for records - if they still exist. My grandparents
had been in correspondence with family members through the 1930's but contact
was lost during WWII. Since then no one alive today in the States (like me)
knows any more of the family. Names were Krahmer and Fradrich. It is
conceivable that anyone that even survived WWII may have migrated out into Germany
itself somewhere. But there had been no indication of any of those relatives
still around. I know this does not refer to a migration to Volhynia! But
just thought someone might have a clue about records for the former Neumark
area of Germany.

Sincerely, Virginia Less
