Gilda,
the proposed WILCZINSKI is indeed much likelier than WILCZEWSKI (
www.herby.com.pl offers 16569 WILCZYŃSKI in Poland concentrating in the
late Kielce, Katowice, Poznań, Lublin, Łódź, Gdańsk, Włocławek and
Bydgosc woiwodships). The name could derive from at least three villages:

   1. Wilczyn, Konin district,
   2. Wilczyna, Szamotuły district,
   3. Wilczyn, Biała Podlaska district.

The first one is the most populated (1200 inhabitants).

wilczy = wolfish, ravening
