I recently found my gr (3x) grandfather's death record. It is recorded in the year 1833. The name recorded is Piotr Doberstein. He is suvived by his wife, Elizabeth . Elizabeth's brother, Andreas Friske is listed as one of the witnesses. Piotr is listed as a Kollonia of Pogorzele. I was not able to make a copy as the LDS center is fairly new and does not yet have a copier for micofilm.

What is interesting is it also notes that he is surivived by "Michata i Bogumila". I am aware of son Michael as this is the line I arrive from. The second name... is what is interesting, as Elizabeth's death record in 1853 at Wyrobki, Radziejow, Bydoszcz states that she is surivied by 4 sons and 1 daughter. I now have all children accounted for. but a new search begins!

My questions is this- I have found on the sggee site where a Gottried and Elizabeth Friske Doberstein had a son, Gottried in 1830 in Prewow Maly. I am suspecting that this is the same family, as I have long suspected that these two families were connected. Can anyone shed some light onto the variation the names Piotr, Peter, Gottfried, Godfrey etc take. I think that before I can look any farther I am going to need to understand this better. Records are tricky enough without adding more !

I plan on looking in the Orle church records for traces of Bogumila ( or name variations) and see what comes up. My Michael married a Rosine Richter in that area and it is were Elizabeth Friske Doberstein Kitzman traveled to by 1835, where she gave birth to a son Johann August Kitzman. ( I did find Elizabeth's and Johann Kitzman's marriage record in 1834).

Thank you any suggestions and input.
