Hi Eduardo.

Certainly I would expect that Nicolofew is an incorrect spelling of 
Nicolajew.  It seems logical that this is so but of course one cannot 
confirm that until you find a source that gives you family 
information in that location.

Unfortunately this is a common place name within modern day 
Ukraine.  It could be the location you suggest.  However, there were 
also at least 4 similarly named places such as Nikolajewka within 
Volhynia.  Since some of your ancestors are from Volhynia, it would 
seem that one of those locations is more likely.  There are also 
other Nikolajew within Ukraine territory.
