At about the time Russia was getting interested in who they had as teachers,
they did a census of their teachers, about 1890; this information is located
in the Kiev Archives in the card index under the name of each village; but
it is only a "narrow window" view; as well of course the teachers are
usually named in the Lutheran church records.
