There are also some Mantick's (another varied/anglicised Mantik, of Mantei,
etc.) that settled here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~njm1/03stjohnsevlu.htm

My g-great-grandmother Paulina Mantik (Bonas) brought children, Amelia and
Gustav, to Pittsburgh in 1895 to meet Friedrich (her husband/their
father), and they had my Great-Grandfather, William, here in 1899.

Their last residence listed on the ship manifest was Augustynow, Russia
(Poland).

This summer I pinged the list with their names for any information, and
Worth Anderson informed me that this is quite a common surname along the
Vistula river. However, I'm responding with my instance in case it may be
of help.

Thanks,

Jeff Baker
Pittsburgh, PA
