[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Legacy software

My laptop is dying and I need to upgrade and was considering getting a Mac rather than another HP product.

Has anyone had any experience moving the Legacy software program to a Mac from a PC?  Do I need to get new Legacy software for a Mac?  
 
I'm not that computer literate when it comes to upgrades in software.
