In light of recent discussions about records from Russian Poland, we have made changes to this page and its German language equivalent:

Where possible, we are now pointing directly to specific years of information where these records are now available on two different Polish sites.

We have also been advised by an LDS library volunteer and one of our members that the LDS are actively digitizing their records from Poland and putting them online for direct viewing. Many of these will be up in the next year. What is unclear at this time is what regions this will cover (Russian Poland?) and what religions (Lutheran, Catholic). We understand that these records have been authorized by Polish Archives to be accessible to the general public. This is different from the St. Petersburg records which currently can only be accessed in an LDS library or by LDS members.

We encourage our readers to let us know what records they find online and we will continue to update these pages as the new info becomes available. Thank you all for your participation.
