Not all Germans were expelled.
A lot of them remained in Central Europe. You will find a chart in this

you can find the following numbers:
Eastparts of the German Empire:
Refugees and expelled persons: 6.944.000
Dead and missing: 1.255.000
Remaining at home: 1.101.000
