I should have checked this out before, but LAC has recently launched
Resource pages for various ethnic groups that immigrated to Canada.  The
German one highlights materials found in the collection dating back 300
years.  It also includes links to other sites relating to German resources
- and SGGEE is on that Links list......!  The various links cascade to
other sources which may be worth checking out.

Search  "Germans  Russia " and "Volhynia" in the Subject Keyword in the
published catalogue of AMICUS to locate some other books on the subject .
The latter is where the SGGEE journal turns up.
