Don Miller asked about Kolowert. According to a book written by Edmund
Krebs
"Erinnerungen, Erlebnisse, Erfahrungen" there were two Kolowerts. The
first one was destroyed and the second was rebuilt near the first town. In
1925 the
German Church of God became active in that area. During some yearly
conferences
there were 1,200 people in attendance. When the Germans were forced from
Volhynia
many came to the West. After the war Gustav Sonnenberg came to Canada. He
was a preacher for the Church of God for awhile in Volhynia. Since he had
contact with the Volhynians many were encouraged to come to Canada. Many
Volhynians came to Edmonton. By the late 1950s there were almost 20 German
congregations across Canada. In Edmonton they built a church and two years
later had to
build a bigger church because it was already too small. These churches
across
Canada and the US are filled mainly with Volhynians who still worship in
German.
