Hello all,
Many months ago, I stated that I was going to send a request E-mail to
the EZAB and report to the listserve my success or lack of. In February I
sent my information to the EZAB, this week I received in the mail a letter
stating their findings. I requested a marriage record and three individual birth
records from the Leipe (Lipno) area holdings. My loose translation of the
letter told me that they could find no record of the marriage of my gggrandparents
Michal Dill(Dyll) and Marianna Miller(Muller). However they did send me the
three births for my uncle Johann born 1885, my ggrandfather Emil born 1887(not
1889 as his other records suggest) and another birth of an uncle, Gustav,
born 1890. The three records are in Russian, so I will need to get them
translated to make a positive I.D.. They suggested that I look for the marriage
record for Michal and Marianna's marriage in the birthplace or residence of
Marianna since it was common practice to be married in the brides hometown. Does
anyone agree with that statement? I think I found a birth for Marianna Muller in
the FHL film #0714862 from the Lipno parish 1863-1865, the villiage listed
was Lipiny. Can anyone make sense of this situation? If Lipiny was listed in
the Lipno films and the EZAB suggested to look in the brides hometown, why
wouldn't it be listed within the Lipno, Rippin areas? I feel that I am on the
right track but I would like have some experienced eyes and opinions on this
situation. As always I thank all that wage in on my findings.
Regards,
Erik Dill

P.S. The whole proccess took about 5 months and cost 40 Euros. The copies of
the birth entries are pretty clear and undamaged. Researching Dill(Dyll),
Fritz, Miller(Muller).
