Hello,

I have been searching for information on the following family members, all
born in the Turek area of Kalisz (Kalisch) Province of Russian-Poland.

Hermann Lauf (1876)
Emilia Lauf (abt. 1880)
Ludwig Lauf (1884)
Rudolf Lauf (1888)
August Lauf (abt. 1880)

Three brothers emigrated to the US (ultimate destination Chicago): Hermann
(arrived 1902), Ludwig (1905) and Rudolf (1908), (records found at Ellis
Island).

August Lauf evidentially remained. Noted Residence: Briesen, Kalisch, Russia

The sister Emilia Lauf emigrated to the US (abt. 1908) with her new husband
Ludwig Kwade (born 1876 in Nowa-Wies, Konin, Kalisch, Russia-Poland). For a
time the couple lived in Kobelnitz, Posen-Ost where they had their first child
Rudolf (1907). They eventually made it to Grand Rapids Michigan (abt. 1908),
whereas they had their second child Ludwig in 1910 (my grandfather).

Emilia's husband died of typhus in 1912. Emilia left with the two children
for East Prussia prior to WWI to live with her mother in Konigsberg. Why East
Prussia...I haven't a clue.

I was wondering if anyone out there may make a connection to the above, or if
any surviving Lauf's may exist in the Chicago area.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Peter Fischer
