[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Why Germans in Poland

It's nice to see a historical discussion going on.  I wish I had something 
to contribute.  I know of nothing written in English on the later migration 
(18th century and later, which I think is what interests most of us) into 
Poland.  There's plenty in German, of course.  If anyone knows of anything 
in English, please tell us.
