[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Warsaw Records

Dorothy,

Further to Rose's reply, these new films include the Rozyszcze Lutheran
records up to 1899. The St. Petersburg records are a copy but cover only to
the end of 1885 with some years missing, e.g., 1884. About a year ago, Bill
Remus published a detailed description of the new films in the SGGEE
Journal. In addition to covering the post-1885 years, full marriage records
are given as opposed to the simple list of names in the St. Petersburg
records.

Some records for 1900-15 for Rozyszcze, Wladimir-Wolynski, and Lutsk
parishes are in the Lutsk Archive. I believe the only way to search the
records is to go there yourself or arrange for someone to search on your
behalf. I had some success with the latter method and obtained some data
including my father's birth record of 1912 in Wladimir-Wolynski parish. The
archive does not permit photocopies to be made, claiming the books are too
fragile. They offered to prepare a certificate at quite a high cost.
However, my researcher was permitted to make notes from the register books
and that is how I obtained my data. This was about 4 years ago, and
practices may be different now. The researcher I employed may no longer be
available as I was unable to contact her when I last tried about a year ago.

Perhaps someone on the list has precise information about what records are
in the Lutsk Archive.

Dick Stein
