Hi Rosella,
The 1916 Western Canada Census has been indexed on Ancestry: http://search.ancestry.ca/search/db.aspx?dbid=1556
Carl Schaffer, born 1886, and Christena Schaffer, born 1889, are listed in the Maple Creek district of Saskatchewan. To get the additional information requires a subscription or a visit to a LDS Family History Centre or public library with a subscription. There may not be a lot of additional information on the census form, but it should enable you to get an address, which would allow you to search other records.
