Hello Earl,
considering that the German word Krüger means the producer of earthenware jars (Krüge), I wouldn't recommend to limit 
the search to the Thorn region. www.verwandt.de shows up 42815 telephone register entries KRÜGER in present Germany - 
predominantly northern Germany with concentrations in the Berlin, Hannover and Hamburg areas.
