Could Rosen be Rozischche, which isI in the same general area as Zhitomir, 
now in Ukraine.  Also, don' t jump to conclusions on the countries.  Borders 
were constantly changing back then.  Parts of Zhitomir have been owned by 
Poland, Russia and Ukraine at different times.  Also the German borders were 
constantly changing.

I have a cousin whose father came from Rozischche but he was born in 
Prussia.  German farmers were needed everywhere.  Russia encouraged 
immigration from Germany.

Hi Rose,

The son died of an accidental gunshot wound while hunting. Nov 27, 1930 was
the date of death on the certificate. He was born 11 July 1915 in Manitoba.
