My grandmother made a dish called Kugalis (I need to check the 
spelling). It is a Lithuanian dish but she was German, a descendant of 
the Salzburgers from what is now Austria. However, she was born in 
Kovno. Dumplings are common in Austria among the Germans. I will look up 
the recipe and post it. I do know it included eggs, potatoes and bacon 
and was baked in the oven.
